M1 Milled "Groove" Lower Band

Reproduction of Early M1 Milled M1 Milled "grooved" lower band! After 2 years of work and preparation, They're here! Made from the original Feb 1938 revision Ord prints and machined from 1020 steel, same as the originals on state of the art modern CNC machines. Finished with a Black Oxide finish. Used on Gas traps and early SA and WIN M1s.

Fill the gap of your restoration with a quality modern made piece until you find an original or use it on the range, at matches, or reenactments to protect your originals from wear and tear or damage. Regardless of why, at this price and limited quantity we have on hand, they won't last long. If you have a Gas trap, pre war, or early serial number, you need one!

Springfield Use: until roughly 78k

Winchester Use: until roughly 1,219,000

NOTE: These are machined to the tighter end of the specs tolerances. We've fit these on several barrels already both original and new made. To help in fitting on barrel, make sure the barrels are clean of grime, slip a PVC or solid non marring pipe over the barrel with the band in place and give it a couple love taps with a rubber mallet to get it to seat fully in place to install cross pin. Likewise, depending on your hand guards wood, age, and who made it...you may need to use a hand file on the wood lips/tangs to get a perfect fit. Boyds and CMP stocks we've fitted are on the more generous side of stock tolerance specs so light hand fitting may be require.

Advice from online on Lower band installation:

"When installing the lower band, take care not to distort it by driving it into place by hammering on only one side. The band is soft enough that it will distort easily. The best way of installing is to use a short section of a soft pipe like copper as a driving tube.You can also use a brass or nylon drift to tap all around the band to seat it. Make sure to get it on aligned properly so you don't have to remove it to straighten and don't try to straighten by tapping it over."
